School of Continuing Studies Now School of Professional Studies
On September 1, 2014, Northwestern University School of Continuing Studies officially changed its name to Northwestern University School of Professional Studies. The new name reflects the school’s academic strengths and evolution, as in the past decade it has grown from a unit primarily focused on helping non-traditional students complete their undergraduate degrees into a school that now offers multiple graduate, post-graduate, post-baccalaureate and noncredit certificates to a diverse population of students immersed in or ready to take on the professional world.
“Our commitment to providing quality education and access to adult learners is as strong as it has ever been,” said Dean Gibbons. “We believe the word ‘professional’ better reflects the direction and strength of our school, as well as the interests and needs of our students. We are excited and energized as we enter this new era.”
