Certificates of Advanced Graduate Study
Northwestern University’s Certificates of Advanced Graduate Study offer students a unique opportunity for targeted study in a field. Each certificate is designed around a specialized area of focus, allowing students to explore new trends in their field or to refresh their skills in preparation for a career change. Some certificates, such as those in literature and liberal studies, may be used as preparation for further education at the doctoral level. Individuals who already possess a graduate degree and who wish to further their education at the graduate level are welcome to apply. Please see the “additional information” section of each certificate for more information about additional application requirements.
Please note that courses completed in the certificate program cannot be transferred to the corresponding graduate degree.
