(Joseph) Bryan Bennett

Bryan Bennett is a seasoned educator with experience developing curriculum and delivering adult education courses in both online and in-person classroom environments. A proven education program leader with experience managing and overseeing the expansion of large-scale programs, Bennett is a skilled project manager with a history of successfully managing and executing deliverables for multimillion-dollar implementations on time and on budget. His exceptional leadership and team building skills have resulted in committed and empowered teams. A thought leader with work recognized by the Gartner Group, he has written a white paper published in an international journal. Bennett is a national presenter in the areas of consumer insights, executive leadership, customer relationship management, and healthcare technology. He received his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

John Derwent

John Derwent is the analytics content manager at Boston Consulting Group and has managed employees, contractors, and partner relationships in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Previously he worked with SPSS, where he built a team of curriculum developers covering all aspects of predictive analytics, from data gathering to analysis to reporting. At both SPSS and Apropos Technology he modernized training delivery to include live and asynchronous online training. Derwent was a content expert for the redesign of IBM Global Training curriculum architecture focusing on distance learning, self-paced learning, and content reusability. Architect of the data mining and enterprise operational analytics curricula at Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies, Derwent has over seven years of experience as a corporate trainer in telecommunications and analytics spaces and over five years of experience in leadership and professional development. He holds MS and PhD degrees in applied mathematics from Northwestern.

Elbert Hearon

Elbert Hearon is a marketing analytics manager with Discover Financial Services. Hearon has extensive experience building, implementing, and using predictive analytics for marketing, operations, and risk management in the financial services and credit industries. He has also taught quantitative courses in mathematics, statistics, and operations research at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Hearon holds an MS in applied statistics from DePaul University, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Indiana University–Bloomington.

Lance Levenson

Lance Levenson is a quantitative portfolio manager and data scientist who specializes in statistical investment and trading strategies. He has worked for trading firms and hedge funds in the Chicago and New York areas and has extensive experience building and implementing quantitative and predictive models using massive financial datasets. Levenson has developed many tactical and strategic investment initiatives, including relative value strategies, commodity and energy market-making algorithms, fixed income basis/duration/curve trades, real-time dynamic portfolio management frameworks, and advanced-options market-making algorithms. He has also held client-facing roles for high-net-worth investors at one of the world’s largest mutual fund companies and has been involved in process improvement and optimization roles for large corporations. Currently he consults in the quantitative trading and predictive modeling spaces while managing investment portfolios. An experienced teacher of quantitative disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, he has previously held teaching positions in physics, astronomy, mathematics, and methods of teaching mathematics. Levenson teaches in the Predictive Business Analytics Program of Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies, where he was one of three instructors to receive the 2015 Distinguished Teaching Award. He holds bachelor’s degrees in astrophysics and mathematics from Arizona State University and a master’s degree in financial/applied mathematics from the University of Chicago.

Irene Tsapara

Irene Tsapara has worked in the financial industry for 5 years as a financial engineer, building financial algorithms for trading systems at Goldman Sachs/Hull Trading and Hedge Fund Research company. She has taught for over 20 years in universities across the US and Europe and speaks English and Greek fluently and she has a good knowledge of French and Spanish. Tsapara earned her PhD in mathematical computer science from University of Illinois with a focus in computational learning theory and universal algebra. She holds a masters in computer science from University of Illinois and a bachelors in mathematics from University of Patras.
