NUCPS Alumni Community

NUCPS Alumni

Northwestern University Center for Public Safety graduates are part of an elite group of professionals who improve public safety in communities throughout the U.S. and around the world. The NUCPS community, though, extends beyond the sum of our classes. Together, our faculty, staff, alumni, and students create a powerful community of leading public safety professionals. Our commitment to our graduates does not stop at the end of a course or program. We strive to be a life-long connection for our entire community, with the networking and resources only Northwestern can provide.

It all starts with staying connected:

NUCPS Alum Is Dover's First African-American Police Chief

New Dover Police Chief Marvin MaileyOn May 4, the Dover, Delaware, City Council unanimously selected Deputy Chief Maj. Marvin Mailey as the city's first African American chief. Mailey, a graduate of SPSC #364, has been with the Dover Police Department for nearly 24 years. Both the Dover FOP and the community welcome Mailey's promotion. In an article in the Delaware State News, community member Rita Mishoe Paige observed, “This is a historic moment for the city of Dover. This is just what we needed at the right time. I’ve gotten to know (Chief Mailey) pretty well. I’ve sat right beside him on a couple of cases and I’ve been meeting with him every month, so I know he’s a man of integrity, a man of his word, and he’s going to be fair and just.” Master Cpl. David Gist, Dover FOP president, said an internal promotion always helps with the overall moral of the department.  “We’re happy that it’s an internal pick and we couldn’t ask for a better leader. Marvin Mailey’s respected and he’s a true leader."
