Our curriculum is especially designed for law enforcement leaders.||Your SPSC classmates are public safety professionals from around the U.S. and world and course activities allow students to learn from one another and to build relationships that last long after the course ends.||As a student you‘ll develop a project that draws on your coursework to address a critical issue facing your agency. SPSC makes it easy to apply what you learn.|
School of Police Staff and Command
The School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) is the premier management and leadership development program for aspiring sheriffs and chiefs. Graduates describe the SPSC as “essential” and as “immediately useful”. Taught by expert public safety professionals, the program is both rigorous and highly practical. In the program, participants:
- Explore the fundamentals of management and leadership
- Learn to think holistically about their agency and its impact
- Develop insight into their own leadership style and develop a plan for continuous growth
This fall, participate in Northwestern's School of Police Staff and Command at the Marshall County Sheriff's Office
The course starts on October 5 and runs through February 12 on a 2-weeks on and 2-weeks off schedule. Tuition is $3,900 per person.

Chief Deputy Hoffman and I are excited to bring Northwestern's School of Police Staff and Command to the State of Iowa. Through this training we hope to bring together law enforcement professionals and to identify contemporary and collaborative solutions to many of the current challenges we face as public safety leaders.
