Undergraduate students pay per course. Each course is equivalent to one unit unless otherwise specified in the course description.

Each student is responsible for fulfilling financial obligations to Northwestern University. If your account becomes overdue, a late fee must be paid. Students are liable for costs associated with the collection of unpaid bills, including but not limited to collection agency costs, court costs and legal fees. A student’s account may also be reported to a credit bureau. The director of student accounts may cancel or prevent the registration of students whose accounts are past due. Students whose university bills are past due may not be given a diploma or transcript.
The Osher Reentry Scholarship
The Bernard Osher Foundation Reentry Scholarship is available to both new and continuing students who demonstrate both strong academic achievement and financial need. The maximum annual award toward tuition is $4,866 (3 courses). Preferred applicants are between the ages of 25 and 50 and must have reentered higher education after a cumulative interruption of 5 years or more. Additional SPS Scholarships
Before being considered for scholarships, students must visit the Chicago Office of Financial Aid for assistance in completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants must complete the SPS Scholarship Application. Students applying for the Continuing Student Scholarship and Transfer Student Scholarship must use the SPS Recommendation Form, as freeform recommendations are not permissible.
Northwestern University Circle Scholarship
The University Circle established its tuition scholarship in 2004 to assist university employees enrolled in the School of Professional Studies further their career opportunities. The scholarship is funded by donations from Circle members as well as the public. Please read the complete scholarship guidelines.
Continuing Student Scholarship
This scholarship was developed to reward outstanding continuing SPS students who demonstrate both academic achievement and financial need. Recipients receive a tuition grant for up to three courses at SPS, based on available funds. Admitted undergraduate degree-seeking students are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed at least four SPS courses to be eligible. Applicants must also have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 in SPS. Please read the complete scholarship guidelines.
Unemployed Student Scholarship
This scholarship was created for admitted undergraduate students who have recently involuntarily lost their employment. Scholarship recipients receive a tuition grant for up to three courses at SPS, based on available funds. Admitted degree-seeking undergraduate students who have become recently unemployed are eligible to apply. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 from SPS. Transfer Student Scholarship
This scholarship rewards outstanding transfer applicants for success in previous academic study. Scholarship recipients receive a tuition grant for up to three courses at SPS, based on available funds. Transfer student applicants who were recently admitted through transfer admission are eligible to apply.
