For nearly 90 years, we’ve had the privilege of impacting careers, agencies, and communities through some of the highest quality educational programming available for public safety professionals. Our relevance, effectiveness, continuity, and growth can be greatly attributed to the enthusiastic response, word-of-mouth promotion, and valuable feedback of our alumni and students – those who make up our NUCPS Community.
Now, we are excited to offer our NUCPS Alumni an opportunity to engage with each other on a whole new level!

Our new Alumni Chapters support the mission of NUCPS in part by "contributing to the advancement of a secure society by providing current knowledge, skills and connections for public safety professionals to achieve their personal and professional potential."

As our efforts grow, we envision additional benefits for our regional chapter members, from custom NUCPS-branded regional logos and a members-only web portal to chapter v. chapter contests.
How Do I Help Start a Chapter?
NUCPS is looks forward to working with program alumni to build Regional Alumni Chapters throughout the U.S.
Starting a chapter is as easy as emailing: nucps-alumni@northwestern.edu. Let us know your name, agency, preferred phone number, preferred email, and city / state, and we will contact you within two business days.
As we begin rolling out chapters, NUCPS is able to offer regional leaders assistance in areas that include:
- E-blasts to alumni in your region to generate membership interest;
- Planning annual or semi-annual educational opportunities, such as seminars, workshops, and retrainers -- as well as the registration processing needed for these events;
- Chapter-specific private Facebook & LinkedIn groups;
- Official NUCPS-branded artwork;
- NUCPS-branded give-always for member meetings;
- More!
What Defines NUCPS Alumni?
Northwestern University Center for Public Safety alumni is composed of professionals in law enforcement management, crash investigation, traffic engineering, and police motorcycle instruction who work in local, county, state, federal, and private sector organizations.
We welcome all course graduates to the Alumni Chapter table! Whether you completed the School of Police Staff & Command, other Management & Leadership programs, a Crash & Reconstruction course, Traffic Engineering or forensic workshops, or the Police Motorcycle Instructor Program, if you successfully finished at least one course through NUCPS, then we consider you a NUCPS alum and qualified to join a chapter.*
*NUCPS Alumni should not be confused with Northwestern University alumni, a designation available only to graduates of the University's degree-granting colleges and schools.
