COVID-19 Announcement

March 16, 2020

Dear NUCPS Students & Community Members:

Due to the COVID-19 global public health emergency and its threat to the health and well-being of students and the general population, Northwestern University has joined with its consortium of major universities in the collective fight against the spread of the disease. Effective March 16, Northwestern University, School of Professional Studies, and Center for Public Safety have suspended normal operations. This suspension will be in effect until April 27. University officials will evaluate the situation on April 17 and will decide whether the suspension will be lifted or remain in effect past April 27.

If you have registered for and plan to attend any on-ground NUCPS professional development class at any location between March 16 and May 1, please be informed that on-ground classes during this period are postponed. Student registrations for these courses will automatically be transferred to the rescheduled date, and students will receive an email notifying them of the new class date(s) and any special instructions. Reimbursement of registration fees will be processed in the usual manner. However, refunds may be delayed due to the alternative operations of the University.

Online classes are not affected and will begin and continue as scheduled. Additional online classes may be added during this period and made available to those students whose classes have been suspended.

Northwestern University has implemented a social distancing policy based upon the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations. As of March 16, NUCPS office employees will be working remotely from home and the NUCPS campus office at 1801 Maple in Evanston will be closed to pedestrian traffic. However, office staff and personnel will be available and can be contacted either by telephone or email. Again, University leadership will review and evaluate the situation on April 17 and make a decision on when to reopen.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, concerns, or NUCPS business matters. For the latest messages, advisories, and information about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) for University students, faculty, staff, and others, please visit Northwestern’s Coronavirus / COVID-19 Updates website.

We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented, chaotic and traumatic time and are committed to providing the same level of excellent service you have known and expect from us. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your careers and professional development. Stay healthy and safe.

Warmest regards,

David Bradford,
