ENGLISH 305-0 : Advanced Composition: "Legal Writing"


Description

This course will examine legal writing and speaking, with a focus on strategy and reasoning techniques useful to success in law-based careers and graduate studies. Students will work on a legal case from beginning to end, conducting discovery; writing motions, memos and briefs; and engaging in a mock trial. Lessons will also be taught in the mechanics of bluebook citations and techniques for succeeding on the LSAT. This course is taught by a former attorney and current Northwestern professor.

This course is for undergraduate students in their second year or above who want to develop their abilities to write in different styles and for different audiences.
