UPDATED ACADEMIC CALENDAR DATES

Scheduling and Important Dates

What are the start and end dates for each quarter?

*Be aware that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all dates are subject to change.

2023–24 Academic Year
  • Fall quarter: September 19, 2023
  • Winter quarter: January 3, 2024
  • Spring quarter: March 25, 2024
  • Summer quarter: June 17, 2024

Our full academic calendar will is available here, and is typically updated in July.

How long is the programme?

The DSP degree requires completion of 12 total courses over 18 months. Classes are 10 weeks each, offered sequentially. If you take a break, you must wait until that course is offered again.
Courses may not be taken out of sequence.

Can I take courses in any order?

The DSP degree is cohort based. DSP students are required to take courses in a prescribed order. Course schedules are located here.

Are there on-ground live sessions or residencies that are part of the programme, and am I required to attend?

There are two required on-ground residencies associated with MS_DSP 422 and MS_DSP 498. These will be held at one of the Great Lakes Institute of Management campuses. Students are expected to travel to the designated Great Lakes campus and be present during the entire residency.

Future dates, session locations, and expectations will be provided to enrolled student well in advance to allow for travel planning.

What does the course day and time listed mean?

The course day of the week and time listed is the timeframe for any synchronous (live) sessions (lectures, office hours, etc.) that do not necessarily take place each week. Sync sessions are optional and recorded for later access.

Will my online classes have synchronous components that I need to plan for, and if so, how many times per term and at what time of day?

Courses will have a minimum of three real-time, synchronous sessions each term. Synch sessions will be held between the hours of 7 to 9:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time. Your attendance in sync sessions is highly encouraged but not required. All sync sessions will be recorded for later viewing.

Review your course syllabus at the beginning of each term so that you know which dates your professors plan to hold their sync sessions.

There are two required on-ground residencies, MS_DSP 422 in the fourth term, and MS_DSP 498 in the sixth term.

What are the course drop dates?

*Be aware that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all dates are subject to change.

Dropped courses are handled on a quarterly basis. Students should refer to the Important Dates calendar to check on the current term deadlines and refund schedule.

Because this is a cohort-based program, dropping a class will impact the student’s ability to finish the degree and the timeline that they will finish. Classes are offered on a quarterly basis and follow the academic calendar.

I don’t see a course Canvas page before the first day of classes – what should I do?

Canvas course sites should be available two weeks prior to the start of the quarter.  Please reach out to your instructors if you have questions about Canvas pages, as they manage and publish sites.
