There was a strong lake breeze and excitement in the air on the Evanston lakefront on Saturday, June 8 as Northwestern University School of Professional Studies celebrated the class of 2024 in Ryan Fieldhouse as family and friends cheered on this year’s graduates.
In his address, SPS Dean Thomas Gibbons congratulated the more than 700 graduates who earned their master’s and bachelor’s degrees, giving special recognition to this year’s Alpha Sigma Lambda inductees, distinguished capstone and thesis award winners, active military and veteran graduates, and student leadership council members. MS in Information Design and Strategy graduate Nomsa Khanyile gave the student address. Mary Lee Schneider President and CEO, Chief Technology Officer, and Independent Director delivered the keynote address.
Each student then crossed the stage to receive their degree and congratulations from Dean Gibbons. The ceremony ended with one of SPS’s favorite Convocation traditions. A bagpiper played to close the event, playing from the stage this year due to the pandemic, as graduates processed out of the Fieldhouse amid smiles and cheers from those in attendance.
