The Future of Blockchain in Sports

CHICAGO - On September 26, 2018, Northwestern University School of Professional Studies (SPS) presented "The Future of Blockchain in Sports," a lunchtime panel discussion on the potential for blockchain in sports media and sponsorship.

The lecture was the first event in SPS's new Lunchtime Table Talk series, a monthly lecture and Q&A series over lunch that highlights the interdisciplinary research and conversation occurring at the School of Professional Studies. The lectures are free and open to Northwestern University staff, students, and faculty, as well as the general public.  

September's event featured the following panelists: 

Brice Clinton (SPS '08) 

Brice Clinton is the Faculty Director of the Master's in Sports Administration program (MSA) at Northwestern University, as well as a 2008 graduate of the same program.  In addition to his role as faculty director, Clinton currently teaches the course The Technology of Sport. During the day, he works as a senior sales engineer for CSG International, a global interactive media company. Since joining CSG International, Clinton has been responsible for client engagements across media, sports, and retail in North America, Europe, Asia, India, and Australia.

Adam Grossman (Weinberg '04) 

Adam Grossman is the Founder & CEO of Block Six Analytics, a sports marketing and sponsorship firm. Block Six Analytics focuses on how to apply quantitative approaches and technology to help sports organizations grow revenues and better engage with target audiences. Grossman is the co-author of The Sports Strategist: Developing Leaders for a High Performance Industry. In addition, he is a faculty member within the MSA program at Northwestern and currently teaches the course Sports Research Methods and Quantitative Analysis. 

Alex Cordover  

Alex Cordover is the Director of Data Science at Block Six Analytics. Cordover is a leading data scientist in the sports industry with expertise in building machine learning algorithms for analytics platforms. He led the creation of Block Six Analytics’s Media Analysis Platform (MAP) and Social Sentiment Analysis Platform (SAP).
