Master’s in Global Health Opens Diverse Career Paths

Global Health

Many professionals considering global health are attracted to its purpose – improving healthcare access and outcomes where it’s needed most. They see rewarding opportunities to help those in poorer nations lead better, longer lives, while curbing the spread of disease and protecting trade, travel, and security at home.

But choosing a Global Health Master's program is about more than making a real difference in people’s lives. A global health degree can also lead to a healthy and diverse career path—one that can accommodate both nonprofit and business/commercial interests. With global health jobs, you can be on the ground providing hands-on education and care, forming a startup for a much-needed technology or service, or shaping critical public policy.

Diverse Careers, Diverse Faculty

In the Northwestern SPS global health career options overview, you can learn more about the different types of global health jobs that are possible with a global health degree:

  • Clinical work
  • Consulting
  • Epidemiology
  • Nonprofit administration
  • Research and/or teaching
  • Social entrepreneurs

Visit our online Global Health Master's (MSGH) overview to learn more about our faculty, whose experience reflects the different career paths in global health. For example, some of our MSGH faculty members are doctors who are affiliated with the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Others teach in Northwestern’s graduate programs in business, public policy, and political science or work in the private sector.

While you’re on the page, check out faculty profiles and student stories. Reading through their experiences is a great way to learn more about potential global health experiences.

Professional Health Post-Baccalaureate Programs Help You Prepare
