The purpose of the MSIS Student Leadership Council is to help foster relationships among students in the Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program, as well as with alumni and world-renowned industry professionals. The Student Leadership Council provides terrific opportunities to network, attend cutting-edge industry discussions, and immerse yourself in the information systems field.

2025 MSIS Student Leadership Council Members
Richard Liu
PRESIDENT
Jianhua "Richard" Liu is a full-time student in the MSIS program at Northwestern University, with a strong interest in Economics, data analytics, and digital strategy. He enjoys working on projects that bridge technical expertise and business impact, exploring how digital integrations and data-driven solutions can enhance decision-making. With experience in collaborative leadership, he values teamwork and innovation in problem-solving. Outside of academics, he plays golf and holds two barista skill certifications from Specialty Coffee Association of Europe(SCAE, Now Specialty Coffee Association, SCA).
Yasmina Sayyid
VICE PRESIDENT and DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
Yasmina is a graduate student at Northwestern University, pursuing a Master’s in Information Management and Systems, with a prior Master’s in Finance. As VP & Director of Communications for the Student Leadership Council, she leads Alumni Relations, fostering connections between students and graduates through networking and mentorship initiatives. With a diverse background, she is passionate about building strong professional communities.
Ian Mei
GENERAL CHAIR
Ian is a full-time student in the MSIS program at Northwestern University, specializing in data science and information system. With experience in software development and leading interdisciplinary projects, he combines technical expertise with leadership skills. Outside of academics, Ian enjoys photography and playing Ultimate Frisbee, having founded and grown a frisbee club to over 200 participants.
Jeffrey Tsai
GENERAL CHAIR
Jeffrey is a former full-stack software engineer with a background in linguistics and computer science. He has worked across various sectors, including finance, manufacturing, telecommunications, emerging technologies, and auctioneering, gaining diverse experience that fuels his passion for building innovative, user-focused solutions. Beyond his professional career, Jeffrey has a deep love for cars and automobiles, often exploring their mechanics and engineering. He is also passionate about music and previously worked as a professional DJ.
