Master’s in Data Science for MIT MicroMaster's Credential Holders

Open to credential holders of the MITx MicroMasters in Statistics and Data Science, this nine-course online program offers the depth and rigor of Northwestern's twelve-course MS in Data Science program. Successful credential holders of the MIT Micromasters in Statistics and Data Science program have demonstrated proficiency with the fundamental elements of data science and are prepared to immediately begin with the master's program's more advanced courses.

The curriculum builds essential analysis and leadership skills needed for careers in today's data-intensive world. Students learn how to utilize relational and document database systems and analytics software built upon open-source systems such as R, Python, and TensorFlow. They learn how to make trustworthy predictions using traditional statistics and machine learning methods.

You can choose a general data science track or one of four specializations: Analytics and Modeling, Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, or Analytics Management. The specializations are designed to foster individual career growth based on your professional goals. You can further customize your studies with a wide range of elective courses, including financial and risk analytics, artificial intelligence and deep learning, analytics systems analysis, and information retrieval and real-time analytics. 

A twelve-course version of the MS in Data Science program is also offered to qualified applicants.
