Conference Location

Where is the conference located?

The conference takes place in Wieboldt Hall, located on Northwestern University's downtown Chicago campus.

Where should I park?

If you're attending the conference on Thursday and/or Friday, parking applications such as Spothero or ParkWhiz allow you to find and reserve a discounted parking spot in advance. There are also several public parking structures within walking distance to Wiebolt Hall. If you are attending the conference on Saturday, you can self-validate parking for the Northwestern campus lots at the rate of $7.50 for the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The parking self-validation machine is located in the student lounges on the 4th and 5th floors of Wieboldt Hall (the building where the conference takes place). Please note that the validated rate is only available at the following parking lots—and only on Saturday:

  • Huron Superior Parking (Lot A), 222 E. Huron Street
  • Erie Ontario Parking (Lot C/D), 321 E. Erie Street

Registration & Tuition

Do I have to attend the conference for all three days?

No, you can attend for one, two, or all three days. Please see the tuition and registration page for information on tuition rates for the various options. 

Can I register for just a manuscript consultation?

Yes, you can select "manuscript consultation only" on the online registration form.

How much does it cost to attend the conference?

Tuition varies depending on if you attend for one, two, or three days, and if you register during the early registration period (on or before July 12, 2019). We also have different rates for students, NU faculty/staff,  NU alumni, and NU OLLI members. Please see the tuition and registration page for detailed information.

Do you provide any scholarships?

Unfortunately, we do not have any scholarships available at this time.

Is there a cancellation fee/policy?

Cancellations will only be accepted in writing (by mail or email to and refunds will be granted as follows: Cancellations received on or before August 11, 2019: full refund, less a $50 processing fee. Cancellations received after August 11, 2019: no refund granted. By registering for the conference, you are agreeing to these terms.


Do you provide accommodations?

No, we do not provide accommodations for the conference. ChooseChicago is one resource out of many available online for hotel booking. The following is a list of hotels near SPS. We are not recommending these establishments, but simply listing them here for your convenience in finding accommodations during your visit. Some of the area hotels offer discounted NU rates. Please inquire when making your reservation.
