Engage Chicago is an experiential-learning program that helps students explore civic engagement, political power, and social change in Chicago while interning for a local organization. The program aims to help you think deeply about social systems and possibilities as well as nuanced approaches to the work of community-engaged professions. Program components include 1) The Internship, 2) Class, 3) Spotlight Sessions, and 4) an intentional living community with residential activities. Class includes a combination of lectures, guests, activities, and small-group discussions. Course materials tap a range of fields and forms of knowledge. Spotlight Sessions offer additional opportunities to talk with guests, visit organizations, explore neighborhoods, and more, while learning about the challenges and possibilities of various professions in public interest, social service, and related fields.
