Student Leadership Council
The Master of Science in Data Science (MSDS) at Northwestern University is one of the fastest growing and most established Data Science programs in the United States. The purpose of MSDS Student Leadership Council (SLC) is to help foster relationships among students in the program, alumni, and world-renowned industry professionals. The MSDS SLC creates opportunities and events that allow students and alumni of the program to grow their knowledge of Data Science and their professional networks. The MSDS Student Leadership Council strives to serve the program by broadening awareness of Data Science in practice and building a sense of community in the graduate program.
Allen Wang is a dynamic professional in Asset Management/Investments, Quantitative Finance, and Machine Learning. He holds a Master's from Yale School of Management and a Bachelor's with Honors in Mathematics and Music from Williams College. Allen is currently working in the financial industry. His interests extend to music, meteorology, and various sports.
Sherly, a Process Engineer with a robust background in chemical engineering, passionately integrates data science to innovate impactful and unconventional solutions. Her enthusiasm for data-driven technologies propels her exploration at the nexus of Data Science and Chemical Engineering, striving for groundbreaking advancements. Beyond her professional pursuits, Sherly indulges in linguistics, proficiently singing in Latin, Spanish, and French. She cherishes family travels and dedicates time to scholarly study of wisdom literature.
Joseph is a native New Yorker and a fully remote student at MSDS! Currently, he works at an airline as a data analyst. Outside of his work and school, he is involved in volunteering in my community and his hobby is photography that he picked up during COVID. He’s always on his phone, e-mail, Slack, etc, so if you have any questions, please reach out!
ALUMNI LIASION CHAIR
Joyce is a finance data and transformation manager at a fintech start-up, where she plays a pivotal role in establishing a strong foundation for data reporting and analytics. Beyond her professional life, she enjoys exploring new parks and nature with her newborn, staying active through gym workouts and yoga, and has developed a newfound passion for pickle ball. In addition, she channels her creativity in the kitchen by experimenting with fusion recipes, delighting family and friends with delicious meals.
EVENT COORDINATOR CHAIR
Zeyang is a full-time student in the Accelerated Data Science program, specializing in Analytics and Modeling. In the past, Zeyang has interned at various types of companies, including banks, financial services firms, and startups, applying qualitative/quantitative research and risk analysis skills in finance-related projects. Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, he enjoys running and exploring new travel destinations.
Sheila is currently a research histologist for the Mouse Histology Core at Northwestern University’s Cancer Center. In her role, she collaborates with researchers and performs histological processes on animal tissues for analysis. In her free time, she enjoys collecting and playing board games, discovering coffee shops, making floral arrangements, and traveling.

Pengyu is currently pursuing a master's in Accelerated Data Science after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a major in Economics and a certificate in Data Science. She is keen on enhancing her data analysis skills to tackle practical problems in a data-driven world. She has passion for baking, traveling, and hiking, particularly drawn to exploring the varied landscapes of national parks.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION (DEI) COORDINATOR
Apoorv has a research background in biomedical engineering and is currently pursuing a thesis in the MSDS program related to neuroimaging. He has worked in both industry and academic roles. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, playing with his cat and spending time with family.
Natalia resides in Boston and works as a Client Data Sr Analyst for a health insurance organization. In her role, she supports clients, brokers, and account managers with their reporting needs. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, biking, listening to audiobooks, and volunteering in her community.

Bailey has a background in food and beverage marketing and an M.B.A. from the University of Utah. She is pursuing the MSDS program full-time as a remote student in Utah. Outside of school and work, Bailey enjoys trying new restaurants with her husband and friends, spending time with her dog Indy, cake decorating, and traveling.
