STAT 202-CN : Introduction to Statistics
Description
This course provides an introduction to probability and
statistics theory and foundational data science applications.
Assignments and a final project help develop students’ analytic and
critical thinking skills and challenge them to apply statistical
analysis techniques to practical data sets from across industries.
The course consists of three segments: data collection and
sampling, descriptive analysis including charts, graphs, and
measures of average and variation, and predictive analysis
including probability, the normal curve and statistical testing.
Students learn how to appropriately collect and analyze data, and
how to draw meaningful insights for business and research
applications. Students demonstrate proficiency with statistical
theory and analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel to analyze
real world data sets, providing a strong foundation for advanced
data science applications.
This course has in-person meetings scheduled for alternate
Thursdays on: 3/28, 4/11, 4/25, 5/9 and 5/23.
