Description
This course prepares students to perform data engineering tasks to acquire, manage, visualize, analyze, and secure data at rest and motion. The course introduces students’ various phases of data life cycle, provides deep dive into different data processing methods, data architectures, data management and analytics. Students learn tools/techniques to build data pipelines. This course focuses on big data, distributed processing and streaming data on public cloud platform. Students gain hands-on experience in different data engineering technologies including NoSQL, Map-Reduce, serverless computing, data pipelines, ETL/ELT, Indexing and Searching. Upon completing this course, students will learn key job skills to perform Data Engineer role in any industry.
Prerequisite: CIS 317 or equivalent. Experience with SQL is necessary.
This course is conducted completely online. A technology fee will be added to tuition.
Northwestern students who are not in the School of
Professional Studies must obtain consent from their college
adviser, Dean’s Office, or program to enroll in this
course.
